Robert Earl Keen may just one-up George Strait when it comes to line-ups for his benefit. Thursday, August 28th at the Whitewater Amphitheater Presend by Buc-ee’s is Robert Earl Keen’s Applause For the Cause, benefitting the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Artists include Robert Earl Keen with special guest Tyler Childers. Also, Miranda Lamber, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram will perform as a trio. The United We Sound: Benefit Concert for Texas Flood Relief will be held Sunday, August 31 • Hoots Hall • Burleson, TX 10 AM – Midnight • All Ages • Rain or Shine. Hoots Hall hosts the official United Cajun Navy Benefit Concert for Kerr County, bringing together music, community, and purpose. Expect an all-day lineup of artists (announced July 15), VIP experiences, celebrity guests, food trucks, and more—all supporting Texas flood relief. Marking 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, this event celebrates everyday heroes and the ongoing mission of the United Cajun Navy. The Deep in the Heart Benefit Concert is another great Benefit Show on the way that will raise funds for flood relief across Texas. Wondering if those millions raised for Hill Country flood relief are making a difference? They are. Governor Greg Abbott personally delivered $25,000 checks to families devastated by the July 4th floods—funds raised at George Strait’s “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert. More than $7 million dollars was raised during the July 27th benefit concert featuring not only the King of Country, but a guest appearance from Garth Brooks and performances by Wade Bowen, William Beckmann, Hudson Westbrook and many more.
President Donald Trump has announced the 2025 Kennedy Center Honorees, and among the distinguished recipients is none other than George Strait. Rock Band KISS and Sylvester Stallone were also announced along with others. The official date for the gala celebration has yet to be announced.
After 120 years, Coupland Dancehall is closing its doors. The legendary venue wraps its “Last Call” series on October 11, with all shows leading up marked as part of the farewell. Owner Abbey Road is donating the property to a nonprofit, preserving its legacy. Coupland hosted generations of Texas artists and appeared in Lonesome Dove, Love & Death, and countless music videos. A true Texas icon—gone, but not forgotten.
David Adam Byrnes and his wife Amanda welcomed their first child, Weston Don Byrnes at 7:53 p.m. on August 14, 2025. Mom and baby are doing great.

Country, Texas, Tex-Mex and Tejano artist Stephanie Urbina Jones, of San Antonio, is releasing a Spanish version twist of the Glen Campbell Hit, “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Stephanie and her band the Honky Tonk Mariachi will release “Rhinestone Cowgirl” or in Spanish “Joyas de Vaquera.”
Robert Earl Keen’s sold-out “Applause for the Cause” concert, set for Thursday, August 28 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX, will now be livestreamed thanks to a partnership with multiple media outlets. This benefit is presented by Buc-ee’s.
Trevor Underwood may be new to Texas Red Dirt Radio but he is no stranger to music, bands and touring. His mom, Lisa, was part of the trio Lantana that had songs on the radio back in the early 2000s.
Koe Wetzel stopped into the H.E.B. Grocery store in Granbury, Texas and saw an end-cap display of his limited edition cases of Outlaw Light Beer. Koe took out a sharpie and right there in the store started autographing a few for some lucky and thirsty fans.
Kevin Fowler shared the stage with Roger Creager and Tracy Byrd at Gruene Hall for an impromptu concert last week. The trio took turns playing their hits and Kevin gave an update on his knee replacement. He is up and getting around. Apparently it hurt a little bit.
